‘Nutella riots’ probe spreads
FRAUD watchdogs are probing a promotional campaign for Nutella that prompted ‘Nutella Riots’ in French supermarkets.
Intermarché drew big crowds at stores last week by selling the chocolate and hazelnut spread at 70 per cent below the regular price.
Video circulated online of ensuing scuffles and fights breaking out in some stores drew questions from the authorities.
Nutella manufacturer Ferrero distanced itself from the issue, saying that Intermarché is entirely responsible for the mayhem.
