CAR MANIAC KILLED 10 OVER SEX SNUB

- By CHARMAINE NORONHA news@sundaysport.co.uk

THE van driver who killed 10 people when he mowed down pedestrians in Toronto did so because he couldn’t find anyone to have sex with.

Posts by Alek Minassian, 25, paint a picture of an angry young man, who was furious that women rejected his sexual advances.

In one Facebook status it’s reported he refers to himself as an “incel” – a man who is celibate because women refuse to sleep with them.

Another praises mass murderer Elliot Rodger, who was 22 when he killed six people in a knife, gun and car rampage in California in 2014.

The post said: “The Incel Rebellion has already begun! We will overthrow all the Chads and Stacys! All hail the Supreme Gentleman Elliot Rodger!”

Meanwhile, the first of his alleged victims has been named as Anne Marie D’Amico, an employee at Invesco investment firm, which has its headquarters on Yonge Street, Toronto – the same street where the attack occurred.

In the incident 15 other people were hurt and hospitalised.

The suspect made his first court appearance yesterday wearing a white jumpsuit with his hands cuffed behind him. He was charged with 10 counts of first degree murder and 13 of attempted murder.

The judge ordered him detained without bond and scheduled the next hearing for May 10.

Minassian appeared in court as Canadian authorities and the public sought to make sense of what appeared to be one of the deadliest mass murders in the country’s modern history.

Police, meanwhile, still appeared to be gathering evidence. About 20 officers made their way down the van’s deadly path on Yonge Street searching for any evidence.

Nearby, mourners had put together a makeshift memorial to the victims.

“It was like he was playing a video game, trying to kill as many people as possible,” said Panna Patel, 42, who stopped by the memorial and had been at the scene a day earlier, getting cash from an ATM as it occurred.

“He was looking people directly in the eye, making eye contact, it was so scary. He wasn’t remorseful at all.”

Witness Phil Zullo said that he saw police arresting the suspect and people “strewn all over the road” where the incident occurred.

“I must have seen about five, six people being resuscitated by bystanders and by ambulance drivers,” Mr Zullo said. “It was awful. Brutal.”
