OAP di dies in i ‘bed­ding ‘b ddi rope’ es­cape hor­ror

AN EL­DERLY nurs­ing home res­i­dent fell to his death af­ter try­ing to climb down a makeshift rope from a third-floor win­dow.

Wil­liam Strasner, 87, died at the Emer­ald South Nurs­ing and Re­ha­bil­i­ta­tion Cen­ter in Buf­falo, New York, po­lice said.

Cops be­lieve the OAP was try­ing to leave the fa­cil­ity down a rope made from bed­ding and cloth­ing he had tied to­gether when he fell more than 30ft.

An em­ployee found him but he died on the way to hospi­tal.

A po­lice spokesman said pa­tient win­dows nor­mally don’t open more than 7ins but a de­vice used to se­cure Mr Strasner’s win­dow was ap­par­ently miss­ing.

An in­ves­ti­ga­tion is now un­der way.
