Screw is held over ‘jail rape’
A PRISON officer has been arrested after a woman was allegedly raped at a jail, it is understood.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape at HMP Forest Bank, in the Pendlebury area of Salford, Greater Manchester on Saturday.
The force said it received a report that a woman had been raped earlier the same day.
Police said the man has since been released under investigation and enquiries are ongoing.
A spokesman at HMP Forest Bank said: “We are working closely with the police in their investigation concerning the arrest of a member of staff, and cannot make any further comment.”
The category B men’s private prison opened in 2000 and holds up to 1,500 prisoners from the age of 18.
