AR­RESTS MADE OVER BREW­ERY DAM­AGE

FIVE men and a teenage boy have been ar­rested over £100,000 worth of dam­age caused to a brew­ery.

A group of 100 trav­ellers forced their way into the Th­waites site and head of­fice in Black­burn, Lancs, over last month’s Bank Hol­i­day week­end, which led to a stand-off with staff.

The trav­ellers even­tu­ally moved out on May 28 but not be­fore leav­ing win­dows smashed, walls van­dalised, doors ripped off their hinges and rub­bish left strewn all over the build­ing.

Yes­ter­day, po­lice car­ried out dawn raids at a trav­eller camp on Lev­er­hulme Park in nearby Bolton.

De­tec­tives are ques­tion­ing a 43-year-old man on sus­pi­cion of bur­glary and black­mail, a 32-year-old man on sus­pi­cion of bur­glary, a 33-year-old man on sus­pi­cion of bur­glary and shoplift­ing, two men aged 21 on sus­pi­cion of bur­glary and a 16-year-old boy on sus­pi­cion of bur­glary.
