FORMER Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has backed Tom Hardy in the race to become the next 007 spy.

Irish heart-throb Pierce, 65, played the famous role between 1995 and 2002 but has thrown his support behind British actor Tom Hardy, 40, to take over as James Bond.

Current star of the franchise, Daniel Craig, 50, has already announced he’ll be stepping down after the next film.

Pierce ( above) said: “I think Tom Hardy could be a good Bond. I’d be happy to see him do it. You need an actor who can put a bit of wiggle into it, that’s what makes Bond.

“Daniel Craig has been incredible. He’s very physical, he looks lethal. You genuinely believe this is someone who could kill a man.”

Hardy is the bookies’ favourite along with McMafia’s James Norton, 32. although plenty of fans have thrown their support behind 45-year-old Luther star Idris Elba at 8/1 with bookies. DIGGING a hole to China is theoretically possible if you start in Argentina
