Court told GP thought he was untouchable
A GP squeezed a patient’s breasts in a “really immature Benny Hill way” as though they were “a couple of melons”, it’s claimed.
Alan Tutin, 70, carried out sexual assaults on 25 patients between 1980 and late 2004, the Old Bailey heard.
One of them was asked to take her top off by Tutin on at least two occasions when she was in her early twenties, between 1996 and 1999, jurors were told.
Prosecutor Sally O’Neill, QC, said: “She is not now sure whether she also removed her bra but she does recall that he then touched her breasts with both hands, fondling and squeezing them in what she described as a really immature ‘Benny Hill’ way, as though he was feeling a couple of melons.”
Tutin was using both hands simultaneously and gave no explanation for the examination, it was said.
The alleged victim believed there may have been at least two other times when he did the same at the Merrow Park Practice in Guildford, Surrey, before she changed doctors.
She reported it to the police in 1999 after reading local press reports and again in 2014. Earlier the court had been told the GP believed that he was “untouchable” thanks to his status in the community.
Dr Tutin carried out “entirely unnecessary” and inappropriate examinations of victims’ breasts and intimate areas for his sexual pleasure, including one on a girl as young a nine, it is claimed.
