Gun trap OAP blasts himself

Midweek Sport - - NEWS -

AN OAP accidentally shot himself with a gun he had rigged up for protection at his own back door.

Edwin Smith, 68, had a shotgun facing his back door when he went outside to feed some of the local squirrels.

But when he opened the door to let himself back in the gun went off and hit his right arm.

Officers from Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, North Carolina, did not immediately know if the contraption malfunctioned or if he forgot the weapon was rigged to fire.

Captain Jon Wright said: “I’ve never seen anything quite like this.”

The wooded area where the shotgun incident happened is littered with no trespassing signs – including one warning “crackheads, meth heads, drug dealers and illegal aliens” to stay away.
