Binmen face sack over street brawl

-

A COUNCIL whose slogan is “achieving excellence” has been left red-faced after two of its BINMEN had a fight in the middle of the road during a collection day.

The brawl saw punches thrown, kicks aimed and expletives fill the air as shocked locals watched.

Now the crewmen in the punch-up will have to wait to see if it earns them the sack from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

Residents in Cheadle watched in disbelief as two binmen jumped out of the rubbish truck and began a dust-up.

One terrified resident said: “I saw them jump out and start throwing punches. It’s disgusting.”

Ron Locker, a member of Cheadle Town Council, said: “I thought binmen would be too busy to find the time to fight.”

Another spokesman confirmed they are aware of the incident and that it is “being dealt with”.
