TRUMP’S NEW BID TO SCREW STORMY DANIELS!

-

DONALD Trump is trying to screw Stormy Daniels – again – by hitting her with bankruptcy-sized legal fees.

Lawyers for the US president have asked a court for nearly £630,000 in lawyers’ fees and penalties from the porn actress over her failed defamation lawsuit against him.

Attorney Charles Harder defended racking up a £300k legal bill for the president and asked for an equal amount in sanctions as a deterrent against a “repeat filer of frivolous defamation cases”.

At a Los Angeles court, Judge S James Otero noted that fees by Mr Harder’s firm – as high £660-an-hour – were reasonable, but the 580 hours spent on the case appeared to be excessive and might be trimmed in his eventual award.

The judge did not indicate how he felt about the requested penalties but asked whether lawyers’ fees alone would serve as a deterrent.

Mr Harder had not put a dollar figure on sanctions he sought before the hearing, and Ms Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti objected, calling it “absurd and outrageous”.

“You can’t just pick a number out of thin air in an effort to put my client under Donald Trump’s thumb and intimidate her,” Mr Avenatti said.

Ms Daniels – real name Stephanie Clifford – alleges she had a one-night affair with Mr Trump in 2006.

She sued him earlier this year seeking to break a non-disclosure agreement she signed SLAPPED: Trump ( wants Stormy ( to pay legal fees days before the 2016 election about the tryst as part of a £100k hush money settlement.

The President has denied the affair, but essentially acknowledges the payment to Ms Daniels.

Despite the deal to stay quiet, Ms Daniels spoke out publicly.

She has also appealed Judge Otero’s decision and Mr Avenatti said he expects to prevail at a higher court.
