More victims come forward after ITV serial killer drama

-

last year, having previously told everyone she was 47. ITV’s hit new drama starring Martin Clunes as the detective who caught serial killer Levi Bellfield has inspired more women to come forward as victims.

In three-part series Manhunt, which concluded last night, Clunes, 57, plays Scotland Yard’s DCI Colin Sutton, who led the investigations into the monster’s murders.

It charts the true story of how he linked the 2004 murder of Amelie Delagrange to the murder of Marsha McDonnell in 2003 and the abduction and murder of Milly Dowler in 2002.

Mr Sutton, who has since retired, revealed that since the show started on Sunday three women have contacted him online to claim Bellfield ( above) sexually assaulted them.

He said: “I’ve had another three ladies who have come forward to me via twitter to say ‘I was attacked by Levi Bellfield and I never reported it to police’.

“I’ve made contact with them and I’ve made arrangements to speak to those who want to be spoken to and to try and help them.”

He added: “It’s not a complete surprise, to be honest.”
