FATHER Ted really WAS gesturing as he was talking to some pals inside his Craggy Island vicarage and it was just a coincidence that a little square patch of dirt made it look like he was sporting a little Charlie Chaplin-style.

Unfortunately for Father Ted, members of the Craggy Island Chinese community were passing at the time and Ted had to do some quick talking to avoid accusations that he was a big old racist.
