ONCE upon a time, Freddie made a good living out of dressing up as a Nazi and speaking in an amusing German accent.
Unfortunately, as Germany rose again as a superpower after its reunification, taking the mickey out of the Germans’ genocidal past became politically incorrect.
And Freddie’s Sieg Heil salutes became “troublesome”.
Fortunately, the quick-witted funnyman had a plausible explanation.
He told the world he was NOT doing a Nazi salute but had merely put his arm out to catch a hamster that a pal had thrown for his lunch.
