‘Divorce ends marriage’ fail
A FIRM of lawyers was sued by a woman who claimed they had not advised her that getting divorced would end her marriage.
The woman said her Roman Catholic faith meant she could not break the sanctity of marriage, despite agreeing to divorce terms with her former husband.
Judges sitting in Liverpool threw out the claim, and ordered the woman to pay £35,000 in legal costs.
They said her claim that her Asperger syndrome affliction – often considered a mild form of autism – could not be taken into account.
Lord Justice Hughes ruled: “I do not have the slightest doubt that there is no prospect of succeeding in this court.”
Leave to appeal was also dismissed.
