MAN HAD SEX WITH UNDERAGE SISTER

-

ADMITTED: Truro Crown Court A MAN has admitted having a sex with his underage half-sister.

A court heard how for more than of a year, between September 2017 and November 2018, the man had sex with the girl who was under 16.

The man, now aged in his early 20s, appeared at Truro Crown Court yesterday to face a trial by jury.

By law, the girl involved cannot be identified as the victim of sexual offences.

Due to the relationship between the pair, the defendant cannot be named either as this would reveal the victim’s identity.

As his trial was due to take place, the man indicated he would plead guilty to four of the offences.

He admitted two charges of sexual activity with a family member and two charges of sexual touching on at least three occasions, including sex and oral sex, with a child.

The presiding judge, recorder John Trevaskis, said to the man: “You’ve pleaded guilty to four counts on the indictment.

In the view of the crown and the view of the court, these pleas are acceptable to the extent that they describe broadly the scope of your offending and behaviour, so it will not be necessary to have a trial of the remaining counts on the indictment.”

He adjourned the case so the defendant could talk to the Probation Service for preparation of a pre-sentence report.

The man was also listed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

The defendant, who is living in temporary accommodation, was released on bail.
