PSYCHO EXPERTS CALLED IN FOR JEREMY KYLE TEAM

-

STAFF on The Jeremy

Kyle Show will be given counselling, after a former guest on the suspended show died, apparently by suicide.

It’s feared production team members may be so traumatised by what’s happened – and the threat to their jobs – they may need help from specially-trained psychological experts.

Protect

ITV boss Dame Carolyn McCall said in an email to staff that the decision to take The Jeremy Kyle

Show off air is “the best way” to protect it after the death of a guest.

The talk show was suspended indefinitely by the broadcaster after the death Steve Dymond, 63, a week after the programme was filmed.

Dame Carolyn said it “was a very difficult decision to make” to halt filming and broadcasting of the programme, but that they felt it would be “inappropriate to continue to broadcast the show when a participant on it died so recently”.

The company-wide message also said that “everyone involved” in the show – filmed in Manchester – will be offered support from the Employee Assistance Programme, as well as access to counsellors.

Urged

ITV has been urged to end broadcasts of the programme for good following the apparent suicide of Mr Dymond, who died a week after filming his episode.

The network said staff at the broadcaster and the show’s production team were “shocked and saddened” at the death and that the episode will be reviewed.
