SOFTBALL COACH FACES 30 YEARS HARD LABOUR FOR SEX WITH TEEN
A PRETTY teacher and assistant softball coach has been arrested for allegedly having sex with a teenage student.
Catherine Coffey is accused of being a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student and engaging in sexual contact with a student younger than 19.
The 22-year-old blonde faces 30 YEARS hard labour in a tough jail if she’s convicted.
Coffey is accused of having sex with a teen student from Madison County High School in Alabama.
Brent Patterson, a spokesman for the local sheriff’s office, said the sexual contact took place between August and December 2019.
Misconduct
Coffey is an assistant softball coach at the high school and a teacher at Madison County Elementary for younger pupils.
She has been placed on administrative leave, according to Tim Hall, a spokesman for Madison County Schools.
Coffey received her Alabama teaching certificate in July 2019, according to online records from the state’s Department of Education.
Investigators learned about allegations of sexual misconduct and interviewed the student, Patterson said.
Details were being withheld to protect the student’s identity.
Hall said the school system is co-operating with the investigation.
“Once our agency received these criminal allegations, a case report was generated and an investigation was conducted,” the sheriff’s office said.
Coffey has been released on £25,000 bail.
