TRAORE RED HOT TO TOTT £40m Wolves wing ace up for reunion with old gaffer

- By PAUL THOMAS

TOTTENHAM are leading the chase for wantaway Wolves forward Adama Traore.

Former Molineux gaffer Nuno Espirito Santo is keen on bringing the Spain international to London — even if Harry Kane stays.

Traore has two years left on his deal with the Midlanders but has reportedly made it clear that he won’t be penning a new contract.

It means Wolves will have to sell this summer to get the best possible price before the 25-year-old heads towards his final 12 months with the club.

Traore has been linked with a move to Liverpool but it looks like Spurs are heading the way now.

They are prepared to pay £40m for the winger and could loan him for the rest of this campaign with a view to that permanent move.

The link will only fuel speculation that Kane is about to leave for Manchester City in this window.

Spurs director of football Fabio Paratici needs to move fast to secure Traore before the transfer deadline a week today.

Santo is keen on Traore to use him as a wing-back with Kane and Son going through the middle.

He used that 3-5-2 formation at Wolves with plenty of success.

It was telling that Traore played a blinder against Tottenham at the weekend but couldn’t stop Wolves crashing to a defeat.

One man who could be leaving White Hart Lane this week is

Tanguy Ndombele. The 24-year-old has been missing since Nuno took over and didn’t feature at all during pre-season.

The midfielder is thought to have asked for a move with Barcelona and Real Madrid being linked by Spanish newspapers.

If he wants to stay in the Premier League, Everton boss Rafa Benitez is known to be an admirer.

Lyon want Ndombele too and would be interested in a swap deal involving their own midfielder Houssem Aouar.

The 23-year-old has been on Spurs’ radar for a while but they value him at around £30m while the Londoners want £50m for Ndombele.

It seems unlikely that the skint Spanish sides will be able to come up with that sort of cash so

Tottenham will have to lower their demands to get his £200,000 wages off their weekly bill.

Spurs are the team making most headlines as we head into the final days of the window.

One outlandish report suggests that Cristiano Ronaldo may be on his way to the club.

It seems highly unlikely that Daniel Levy would splash out anything like the £500,000 a week the Juventus ace would demand.

Meanwhile, CRYSTAL PALACE are closing in on a deal for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.

Eagles boss — and Gunners legend — Patrick Vieira is keen on the 22-year-old who is in the final year of his deal at the Emirates.

With time running out in this window, Arsenal have slapped a

£20m price tag on Nketiah and have turned down a couple of offers this week.

Palace would like to pay around half that figure and the player is keen to leave after pulling out of contract talks.

ARSENAL would like to get rid of Luca Torreira though with Lazio and Fiorentina on his trail.

The midfielder was loaned out to Atletico Madrid last season and was a key man as they won the Spanish title.

Despite the Gunners’ woes, it seems boss Mikel Arteta sees no future for the 25-year-old Uruguay international.

Eintract Frankfurt are thought to have lodged a bid too but Torreira wants to return to Serie A where he was a success with Sampdoria before his move to London. Arsenal want at least £15m for a permanent deal having spent £25m on him three years ago.

BRIGHTON are hoping to sign striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica before the window closes.

The Seagulls have been in talks with the Portuguese giants for a couple of weeks over the Uruguay international.

The fee is thought to be around £30m as Brighton invest some of the £50m they got from Arsenal for Ben White.

He scored 14 goals and created 12 assists in his first season after moving from Almeria in Spain.

Albion’s offers so far have been in the £20m region with Benfica holding out for more with the clock ticking on this window.
