NETHERTON residents will be able to find out more about hundreds of volunteering opportunities across Sefton at a regular new event in the area.

As part of Sefton Council’s 2018 Year of the Volunteer initiative, the Feelgood Factory has joined up with Volunteer Centre Sefton to run a weekly drop-in event to alert people to how rewarding volunteering can be.

The drop-ins take place every Monday between 10am and 4pm at the Feelgood Factory HQ on Glovers Lane in Netherton.

Volunteer Centre Sefton – part of Sefton CVS – has more than 40 years’ experience of helping local people to find the right volunteering roles, as well as offering advice to organisations looking to recruit volunteers.

Information on a wide range of opportunities will be available at the events, from groups seeking green-fingered residents for gardening projects, to organisations looking for people who can support families in crisis or exoffenders.

Philip Blocksidge, Sefton CVS citizenship and volunteer worker, said: “Although we can provide a huge amount of information about volunteering online, these drop-ins are ideal for people who would prefer to discuss opportunities with someone face to face.

“We’re hoping that they attract a very good turnout,” added Mr Blocksidge.
