Jailed for ‘gun’ threat
A22-YEAR-OLD male was jailed after threatening a man with an replica gun in Hightown. Sean Jones, 22, of Harrowby Road, Seaforth, was sentenced to four years in prison at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and dangerous driving.
At around 12.20pm on Thursday, March 29, officers were called to reports that someone had threatened a man with a firearm outside a property in Hightown.
Following an investigation, detectives issued a warrant for Jones and he was arrested at an address in Melling on Tuesday, April 10.
Detective Inspector Gary Stratton said: “Thankfully, no-one was injured during this incident, however to have a firearm pointed at you would have been an extremely distressing experience and I hope the sentencing offers some reassurance to the victim.
“Both the courts and the police take offences such as this extremely seriously and Jones has now rightfully been put behind bars where he can longer cause harm to our community.
“I want to reassure members of the public that incidents such as this are rare and I would encourage people to keep giving us information on crime in the community, so we can continue to take action and put offenders before the courts.”
