Expert Mark’s talk time

Midweek Visiter - - News -

MARC Allum, who has been a familiar face on BBC TV`s Antiques Roadshow since 1998, will be in Crosby tomorrow (Wednesday, October 10) to speak to the local branch of the Arts Society.

During his time on the programme Marc has been asked to evaluate a wide range of items, including Neil Armstrong`s camera and Napoleon`s briefcase, so it`s no surprise that he lists `all things strange’ among his interests.

Marc has also made a study of the Grand Tour, the continental travel that was an essential part of a young aristocrat`s education in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Many treasures were brought back to Britain at this time, among them the collection once housed in Ince Blundell Hall and now in Liverpool Museum.

The title of Marc`s talk is Collecting: The Grand Tour, and it will begin at 2pm in St. Michael`s Church Hall, on the corner of St. Michael`s Road and Dowhills Road in Blundellsands.

Anyone who wishes to hear Marc will be very welcome, and the cost to non-members of the society is £6.

Antiques expert Marc Allum will be giving a talk on collecting at Blundellsands tomorrow
