Throwing light on why Christmas comes so early!
NOT sure where this year has gone, and that we’re now mid-way through October.
With now fewer than 70 days to go until Christmas, I suppose I can’t keep complaining that shops are selling Christmasrelated items.
Although some people, including myself, would still argue that it’s only October!
One thing we need to talk about, Christmas-related, is the exciting and truly magnificent Sidney Road Christmas Lights, in Southport.
Every year, Steve creates a truly wonderful and magical Christmas Lights display for everyone to enjoy.
This year, we at Sandgrounder Radio, have the honour of officially switching them on, on Saturday, December 8.
We’ll give you more details nearer the time, but hope you can come along and join us at this truly amazing sight.
I have to say how pleased I am, personally, to see the old BHS Store, on Chapel Street, which has been empty for a long time, being brought back to life as a shop, all be it on a short lease.
But, still, it’s great to see that, as we approach the Christmas period, there will be life in the building again. I spotted a post as I was flicking through the newsfeed on Facebook the other day, with a certain post saying how disappointing it is to see it becoming a (in their words) a “tat shop”.
I, for one, am just pleased to see it actually being put back into use, rather than lying dark and empty.
Before Christmas, comes Hallowe’en.
This year, once again, sees the return of our Hallowe’en Night Live.
Last year we were broadcasting live from around Churchtown Village and the Botanic Gardens. though,
This year, we’ll be broadcasting live from Wayfarers Arcade.
It’s a truly magnificent place and takes on a life of it’s own at night.
It promises to be a fabulous night.
We’ll be joined by local Psychic Medium, Wendy Hargreaves.
You’ll be able to listen to the whole show, on Hallowe’en from 7pm.
You can listen to us, as your local radio service for Southport and The Liverpool City Region on DAB+ digital radio, mobile apps, smart devices and online via www.sandgrounderradio. co.uk
