Access All Areas: we’ll sign a panto!
AS November draws to a close our wonderful and wry drama Handbagged continues to delight our audiences.
We are proud to be able to bring a variety of entertainment to so many people.
Not only does our auditorium boast over 400 seats, but we work hard to ensure we are accessible to all.
During the summer our front of house volunteers came in to the theatre to do evacuation training and ensure the comfort and safety of our patrons is protected at all times.
The sound loop is also maintained to the highest standard.
Furthermore, for this year’s pantomime, Cinderella, we are also offering a signed performance for the matinée show on December 30.
We also work hard on stage to make every show the best it can be.
Many of our pantomime company recently had the wonderful opportunity to have coaching from professional actor and friend of the club David Lonsdale, who workshopped projection and technique so that every one of our 18 performances is full of energy and focus.
Our pantomime is enjoyed by audiences of all ages, and our cast is made up of several of our junior and student members as well as adult members.
Our mixed company bring such a range of experience and talent so book your tickets now and see them in action.
The SDC Youth Theatre is available to members age 14-25.
As well as two dedicated youth productions a year there are younger roles within plays in our main season.
Next week we have two talk-ups offering different but equally brilliant opportunities for young actors.
On Sunday, December 2 at 4pm new and existing members are welcome to attend the talk-up for next year’s exciting and exclusive youth production.
Nick Dear’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein will be performed from March 12-16, 2019.
Director Paul Wilkinson has a real passion for this critically acclaimed interpretation and will be holding auditions on Thursday, December 6.
It is a bold, brilliant choice so please come along if you are interested.

Our director John Sharp will be talking about the production in our Little Theatre bar on Friday, December 7 at 7.45pm.
