Big cheque cheer as choir helps pa­tients at leukaemia unit

A CHOIR raised £1,800 from a con­cert to sup­port peo­ple with leukaemia be­ing treated in the Med­i­cal Day Unit (MDU) at South­port hos­pi­tal.

It was pre­sented by for­mer pa­tient Colin Pom­phrett, a for­mer pa­tient, with his wife, Brenda, who are mem­bers of the choir.

The com­mu­nity choir, based at Ains­dale Methodist Church, South­port, gave the con­cert of songs from the movies and mu­si­cals in July.

It was at­tended by Lynn Sugden and Kate Hughes, from the MDU.

Oc­tave gives two or three con­certs for char­ity each year.

Mem­bers have raised more than £25,000 since form­ing 15 years ago.
