We’ve real treats in store to chase away the January blues
HAPPY New Year from all at Southport Little Theatre, we hope you’ve had a fabulous Christmas.
There are now only a few performances left of our magical pantomime, Cinderella.
If you’re fortunate enough you might still be able to get a ticket and go to the ball!
The show runs until Sunday, January 6.
This is a good opportunity to look ahead to the second half of our season; we have some real treats in store for you to chase away the January blues long after the sparkle of panto and the festive break has faded away.
There are few British comic writers more cherished in the world theatre than Alan Ayckbourn and our next production, How The Other Half Loves, is arguably one of his finest pieces of work.
A perennial favourite since its debut back in the late 60s, it plays with the morals of that age.
Director Mike Yates has assembled a wonderful cast to play the three couples whose intertwined lives provide the plot and rehearsals are well underway.
In February we will introduce you to The Pitmen Painters.
Lee Hall’s fascinating play tells the true story of a group of coal miners from the North East who wanted to appreciate art and ended up producing fine pieces.
After you have sat back and enjoyed that, we will have you on the edge of your seat for pacy thriller Dangerous Obsession, then we will close our main season with a delightful version of classic favourite, Jane Eyre.
As well as these spectacular shows, our youth theatre will be presenting Nick Dear’s adaptation of Frankenstein in March.
Director Paul Wilkinson applied specially to offer this opportunity and has recently held auditions.
His talented cast will begin rehearsals as soon as he hangs up his Dame costume for another year.
Our more intimate bar production follows the main season.
This June Michèle Martin will present engaging two-hander Visiting Mr Green.
As well as our own season we will welcome a host of shows from visiting societies.
