DRAUGR ANCIENTS & GUARDIANS

◗ modiphius.net ◗ £35 - £39

Modiphius Entertainment have just released the latest two boxed sets in their Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms range. These are two new Draugr expansion sets, all cast in fine grey resin, each with unique, round, scenic resin bases and are in their 32mm tall line of well proportioned figures (well, as ‘well proportioned’ as creatures can be...).

Draugr Guardians Expansion is the first set and comprise six unique sculpts representative of the sort of fellows you find in Nord burial crypts.you get three Restless Draugr with axe and shield and a further three Draugr Warriors armed with swords and their‘burning hatred for the living’(though that’s only tangentially sculpted into the miniatures...). All of the models come with separate sword and axe arms along with shields for the axmen and they sport scraps of clothing (the odd tattered pair of breeches and the occasional smidge of armour) over their wasted, almost zombie-like physiques. This set is £39.

To lead those you might like a set of Draugr Ancients.you get a box of five with the Draugr Deathlord in a horned helm and sporting a very fancy axe; and his sidekick the Draugr Frostblade with a hand raised in the act of throwing some magic. On top of those you get three extra Hulking Draugr with axes. These all seem better equipped than standard Draugr with more extensive armour and – in the case of the Hulking Draugr – extra severed, skeletal hand decoration, which seems well earned! This set retails at £35.

The models are very impressive, as are the scenic bases: if you were buying them separately from another manufacturer you’d expect to by somewhere between 40p (for a simple base) to almost a quid each for them. Recommended.
