ZOMBIESIDE PAINT SET

In the second paint review this month we have the Zombieside 2nd Edition set from Army Painter. At that price it’s a hard value to beat, I have to say: the Zombicide board game Phil, the cop miniature with his game ID Card in the set is also a very impressively sculpted and cast (as a one-piece in a hardish plastic) 32mm miniature. That’s a good start!

You also get twenty dropper bottles and a decent brush to start you off (plus leaflets, painting guides etc). There’s some stock colours that I can’t see much of a difference when I compare them to standard Army Painter colours: so Pale White and Dead Black look a lot like their regular, er... white and black. There’s also some of the excellent Army Painter Washes which haven’t been renamed (thankfully) so Strongtone, Dark Tone and Flesh Wash seem to be the same as they ever were. Other colours are Dirt Spatter (Dark Brown); Crusted Sore (deep maroon); Filthy Suit (which I had to read the label on rather carefully, but it’s a mid grey); Zombie, Abomination and Rotten Skin (three greeny, pale khaki skin tones); Wanda Blonde (Light Sand); Survivor Skin (a robust skin colour); Glistening Blood (does exactly what it says on the dropper bottle); Molotov Flames (orange); Wasted Jeans (mid blue); Depot Green (khaki green) and Mouldy Clothes (army green). Finally, there’s a Machine Gun Metal and Shotgun Metal (dark steel and steel in that order). I gave them the same test as the Turbo Dork colours and coverage was good: Army Painter paints usually need a good long shake but they work well and this is a great set for the money.
