We reported in Forward Observer last month that Para Bellum have gone into collaboration with Turbo Dork, the metallic paints specialists. The new collaboration between the two companies has generated a boxed of joy: the Inferno X Turboshift set with a figure of the Dweghom Inferno Automata along with a specifically selected palette of Turbo Dork colours: Silver Fox; Shell Shocked; Cartridge Family; Ground Is Lava; and Forrest Flux.

We now have a set for review and what you get is certainly fun: the Dweghom Inferno Automata comprises over thirty pieces as an injection moulded kit which – when assembled – is a little over 55mm tall.you also get a 65mm square plastic base (with a separate circular, 53mm central section) and the model is sculpted in a sort of‘flowing metal’kind of aesthetic with lots of flames sprouting from it. Under most circumstances this will be a challenge to paint but the idea is that the paints supplied will help with that. Although the model is cast in off white, I pushed the colours harder over a black un-primed surface. Coverage is very good: Ground Is Lava is an excellent dark copper colour and Silver Fox and Cartridge Family are a nice silver and brassy, deep gold. Forrest Flux is an interesting green and bronze metallic mixture and Shell Shocked is... hard to describe! I guess it’s a metallic white and lilac mix and you really see the two tones when you catch the light on it: it’s quite fascinating. All are in dropper bottles which have an agitator included in them which is excellent (why doesn’t everyone else do this?). These are great ‘boutique’paints plus a fun model.
