PRE-PAINTED ARMOUR

Now in 1/48th

Solido were always a big name for diecast tanks but with a slightly ‘toy’ like feel (what with the tracks that looked like watchstraps) but – in recent years – they have been expanding their ranges with in-scale, pre-built and painted AFVs. In the Send 3 and 4 pence column this month Mr Kinch mentioned pre-painted 1/72 models and Solido already do a whole bunch of them, however they have recently expanded into a larger 1/48th scale which would fit in well with the likes of Airfix kits of modern combat vehicles and infantry. They are soon to release an M1115 Humvee (with the small roof weapon); an M60 A1 with ERA armour; an M1128 MGS Stryker 8x8; an M720 tracked MLRS; and an

M1 Abrams. All show high detail, are available in multiple paint schemes (green and desert tan, really) and all seem to be the same sort of £29.95 price. Look at the Solido website or a retailer (I chose Captain Shrapnel captainshrapnel.com but there are others) to pre-order.
