WARRIORS OF THE WASTELAND

Brigade have been adding to their 6mm ranges recently – see the item in

Quartermaster for more evidence of that – and their latest figure release includes some Desert Raiders.

Three quid buys you a pack of 24 of these figures. All are dressed in Shemagh (headscarves) and come with cloaks with a variety of armaments including rifles, AT rocket launchers and squad support weapons. All in all I counted six different sculpts which – in this scale – makes for a sufficient variety of pose, especially considering they are meant to represent fairly ‘irregular’ forces and will undoubtedly have different paint jobs applied to their clothing (they wouldn’t want their Shemagh to clash with the rest of their outfits!)

As with all of the range by Brigade, they are sculpted again by Martin Baker, and they are applicable for use in any SF or near future force. For example in Hammer’s Slammers they’re ideal as warriors for Hashemite (which is what Brigade have them listed under on their website) or their opponents the Sincanmo forces (yes, the book has two desert based forces fighting each other for little apparent reason...). If you game in other systems then they would make for other useful substitutions: one suggestion that has been thrown about is that they’d make great Fremen, for example, if you fancy a Dune game and – in 6mm – I guess it’d be the only sensible scale where you could get a Sandworm on the table top.

They would go well in the Brigade range with a selection of their buggy type vehicles and they make lots of scenery for this sort of arid setting as well.
