This month, it was the work of Kevin Bush that caught our eye. Kevin began painting miniatures at a young age, “the first kit I worked on was a Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine with my dad at about age 10,” he explains. A suitably child friendly introduction into the hobby! “I then progressed to classic car kits and eventually landed upon the expansive world of WWII miniatures: a place I haven’t left and never plan to. The first WWII kit I worked on was a 1/48 Japanese ‘Zero’. I actually still have it with only minor damage.”

“Fast forward to today. I am now a full-time miniature painter. It’s a great blessing to be able to do what I love in addition to helping others advance their own hobby goals. I spend most of my time painting 28mm WWII minis.” And certainly, this was shown in the images Kevin shared with us: these included some painted 28mm German Grenadiers made up of a mixture of Warlord Games and Black Tree miniatures to make up a set, though he says he’ll happily paint any other mini too.

“I am often asked about the colours that

I use,” Kevin comments, “unfortunately, there isn’t an easy answer to that question as I mix 99% of them. I also never made the switch from enamel to acrylic paint which complicates thing further. I doubt I’ll ever swap over now as I have found a system that I like, although my ‘go to’ paint range has become harder to find over the last year.” It doesn’t stop at painting for Kevin however, as he wants to grow his Mitten Miniatures, produce his own line of miniatures, and write a ruleset too.
