WATERLOO UNCOVERED
Part of the inspiration for this game was the fact that I’d spent hours painting Prussian infantrymen for a giant Waterloo diorama that is going to be displayed in the National Army Museum in London. This is an extraordinary endeavour being organised through the charity Waterloo Uncovered (waterloouncovered.com). You can see how the diorama is coming along in some detail at James Cowan’s blog (generalpicton.blogspot.com). The plan is to represent the whole battle at 1:1 scale and having been involved as a member of a team of painters working on just one Prussian battalion has given me a new appreciation of the sheer scale of what is involved. If you would be in interested in taking part in the project, we’d be delighted to have you aboard: contact jmcowan42@gmail.com for details. I’m sure my (tiny) contribution to this diorama will outlive me and I look forward to taking my grandchildren to see it in thirty years time. And mightily bored they’ll be!
