This month we’re speaking to Perry Pearcey, who has sent in his impressive GW Primaris Redemptor Dreadnought. He talks us through the process: “Firstly, I undercoated the whole thing in Wraithbone spray,” he explains, before painting one half of it with Warpstone Glow. “The cream colour was achieved with a layer of Skeleton Horde over one side, and then built up with a few thin layers of Screaming Skull, leaving shading around the rivets and deeper areas. Mixing in some White Scars with the

Screaming Skull

for the final layer, and then an edge highlight in just

White Scars.”

Perry painted a wash of BielTan Green, and then built back up with

Warpstone Glow, and a

final edge highlight which had mixed in Moot Green to brighten it. “I wanted the weapons to be simple”, he explains, “as I wanted to focus on the green and cream so I used Corvus Black followed by a wash of Nuln Oil and then an edge highlight of Mechanicus Standard Grey. The plasma effect on the gun was from painting white and then some thin layers of Drakenhof Nightshade.

“Purity seals and the red on the heraldry were a base of Khorne Red for the wax, and then Screaming Skull for the parchment. Then a wash of Agrax Earthshade over the whole thing. I edgehighlighted the parchment and seal in their base colours again and then a tiny bit of Wazdakka Red on the wax to brighten it up. The metal was just Ironbreaker and Nuln Oil, and the gold was Auric Armour Gold then two Seraphim Sepia washes and a final thin Druchii Violet wash to give it a warmer finish.

“I wanted the scripture feature to be a real focus, and these are transfers from Forgotten Chapters. The base was painted completely in Rhinox Hide,

then used Martian Ironearth technical paint, with some Wasteland Tufts

from Army Painter.”
