SAGA VINNI

Brother Vinni is a company based in Russia that brings out sporadic releases of very high quality resin miniatures in a variety of scales and periods. Over the last dozen years they have created a selection of SF models in various scales including some that support Star Wars Legion and some that work well with 40K plus a swathe of voluptuous women encountering no end of clothing dilemmas.

However, along side those items, they also make a selection of historical ‘character pieces’and I have previously reviewed some of their WWII models. In for review this month is one of their SAGA range: basically they are heroic Viking figures that would supplement any SAGA warband or would, of course, fit in well with any Viking army on a table top.

They sent in the Viking Trumpeter for review. This is a five part kit – separate arms, shield and sword in a scabbard

– and assembles quite easily: all components have locating pins though most were too long (but better that than too short). So dry fit first, then slice a little off and use superglue to hold it all together. What you end up with is a superb looking chap in chainmail and a helmet, with his shield slung on his back, blowing his horn. The casting is faultless

and required no clean-up.

I notice from their website that they have a selection of other figures in the range: there’s a great pair of spearmen called Viking Guardians for €9 for the pair; and three different Viking Warlords:

superb looking leaders for your warband at €5.50 each. Recommended.
