BAYONETS, SHAKOS & TOMAHAWKS

◗ northstarfigures.com ◗ £9

We have some of the next wave of Silver Bayonet figures along with a similar new release from the Muskets & Tomahawks/ Shakos ranges from North Star. And – as they’re all ‘sort-of Napoleonic’, let’s look at both together!

First off I’ll deal with the latter set: themed for the French Retreat from Moscow, they are half a dozen, fairly chunky looking figures (on account, of course, of wearing at least one overcoat and a cover for their headgear). All are at the advance or firing from the shoulder positions and all six are unique sculpts and they fit together well as a unit. All of the men are bearded and suitably bedraggled (it’s been a long walk, after all). All are about 31mm to 32mm to the top of the putative head (allowing for the tall hat). They should be £9 for a set but – as I write – they aren’t on the website yet so I can’t actually check.

Similarly as-yet-unpriced are five smaller Goblins for Silver Bayonet. These come in at around 25mm tall and – though barefooted – are all wearing clothing suitable for the Napoleonic period including a couple in tricorns. All are carrying quite crude knives or clubs and looking moderately threatening without sliding too far into comedy. I understand that – to go with this next release – there are a couple of Mark Copplestone sculpted Vampires that I’ve seen pictures of but not the actual metal: they are a male and female and – again – are in period dress with bouffant hair and look excellent. I haven’t got prices on those either and release dates are possibly some time around when this magazine goes to print (or maybe shortly after). I’m certainly looking forward to the

Vampires!
