Victrix are offering some superb missile troops for Late Roman armies. They are at the ‘sketch and render’ stage at the moment so – obviously – some details may change, but they’re planning a pair of staff slingers with various arm options including one that can be turned into a standing archer (and you should also be able to use other bow arms on these figures to make even more archers: the arm joint sizes have been standardised so you will be able to use all arms on all bodies). These slingers appear to be in addition to the three or four other archer bodies for the Late Roman set. I say ‘Late Roman’ but they can also be used as Romano British and Early Byzantines as well as other nationalities with a few head swaps. These would not look out of place as Slavic archers with the appropriate heads. Staff slingers can be used up to the Crusades and Feudal Europe.
