GOING AT A TANGENT

I bumped into Tangent Miniatures at Partizan and Salute and took a look at their range of figures and gosh: what a varied bunch! The large selection of samples they sent covered the following ranges: Tangent Space; A-Historical (of which there are a couple of subsets); Dystopia (think Escape from New York); Rogue Miniatures (I’m guessing old school 40K); Night Hunters (we’re back in Silver Bayonet territory) and more: readers really need to take a look at the web site.

Starting with the Tangent Space range, these are – let’s be honest – wonderful homages to the original -‘70s Battle Star Galactica TV series with a few more besides: there’s all the Starbucks, Apollos and Adamas you could wave a Colonial Laser pistol at along with their opposite number’s leaders (though not a Cylon in sight); but they also make some Intergalactic Hitchhikers as well (“I’m wearing a +4 dressing gown...”).

On top of that are some excellent (but mixed) models in the A-Historical range. I had several superb looking WWI British Officer types plus a bespectacled squaddie. All – except the bandolier festooned ‘other ranks’ (Private Malodorous) – are about 34mm to the top of the head and I suppose there’s a definite Blackadder Goes Forth

vibe. The rest of the range are called ‘Blunt’s Men’ and they are obviously Napoleonic British ‘Sharpe’ types. Well sculpted, they have the usual range of weaponry – including the obligatory multi-barrelled weapon and haversacks are supplied as optional add-ons. Finally the Night Hunters are a very nice-Victorian horror bunch and have everything from a witch on a broomstick to humanoid werewolves and all of the candelabra and/or crucifix wielding demon hunters you might want.

They carry a large range of metal miniatures (and some other stuff like 3D prints and more) that rewards some detailed investigation.
