ELDER SCROLLS
◗ modiphius.net ◗ £16 - £31.20
Modiphius sent in a swathe of Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms products plus there’s some other new items just out on their web site. Council of the Dark Brotherhood
(£31.20) is a six figure, resin expansion set: the Night Mother’s Agents are assassins led by Astrid; assisted by magic user Festus Krex (in mid conjure); Nazir and Gabriella
are sword and bow wielding whilst Babette
is a Vampire with a victim. Finally, there is Vezeera, the lizard looking Shadowscale. All are 32mm scale, proportionate models that require a slight amount of assembly and come with a scenic base. All – obviously – get full support in the Elder Scrolls system.
Although there are some superb cyclopean trolls on the site, they other creature sent in for review is a Giant Frostbite Spider (£25). This is a fairly complex kit with individual legs and body parts but it assembles in to a very nice resin model that pretty much fills the supplied 55mm wide textured base (complete with an obligatory wrapped body). It’s a great model but I wouldn’t want to have to assemble too many of them (though – at 25 quid – that’s probably not much of an option...)
Lastly they sent a book called Histories of the Empire Volume 1: The Stormcloak Rebellion. This is £16 and is a narrative driven expansion to The Elder Scroll: Call to Arms. In slightly bigger than A5, the 80 page colour soft-back allows players to take part in pivotal events such as the search for the Jagged Crown and the Battle for Whiterun. It’s a three-part campaign with battles and a siege and includes new rules adding extra effects to environments, altering what equipment each faction can take, and offering thematic bonuses. It’s well laid out with useful maps and good photographic illustration.
