STATUTORY PAINT
I applied a base coat of midgrey to which I had added some ultramarine blue paint to give it an eerie, more ‘ethereal’ tint. I drybrushed the model with lighter grey and even some white acrylic paint before ‘splattering’ and washing with different paints and washes. Aiming for a more ‘natural’ stone colour I applied the paint, splattering and washing in layers, some dry and other wet-blended. After giving the model a coat of matt varnish, I used a white watercolour pencil to further highlight some of the sculpted texture. The small metal plaque was painted with various metallic paints and ‘aged’ with washes.
