THE BATTLESHIP USS CALIFORNIA

This is a Polish-English publication with both English and Polish text. It has a half page, potted history of the USS California (Tennessee Class battleship) in both languages and then the rest of the book consists of line drawings of aspects of the ship with both English and Polish captions. The line drawings cover items such as the forecastle, gunnery, cross sections of the ship, command station and anti-aircraft armament and main armament among many other views. There are two A2 sized sheets with line drawings of the whole ship, some in colour giving the paint scheme in 1944. This is replicated on the back of the book for both 1944 and 1945.
The text is superficial so do not look for a detailed explanation of its operational history, especially as it was sunk at Pearl Harbour, raised and not back in combat until 1944. The book would be very useful for the modeller (Trumpeter do a model of the California in 1/700th scale) and for readers who love this sort of scaled drawing and exploded view but it seems to be a niche interest which perhaps explains its price.
