Botvyle Farm CS, Shropshire
Botvyle Farm not only fulfilled our wish for direct access to fabulous walks, but also served up an extra treat – a magnificent outlook across the valley to the Long Mynd.
This extremely peaceful site is tucked under Caer Caradoc, an Iron Age hillfort named after the legendary Welsh chieftain, Caractacus. There are several ways up to the summit from which the expansive view stretches to Staffordshire, Cheshire and even the mountains of north Wales.
More beautiful walks abound on The Lawley and on Willstone Hill, their ridges enabling you to see across the bucolic Shropshire countryside and into the surrounding counties for many miles.
In the other direction, the Long Mynd plateau and pretty Carding Mill Valley offer even more walking opportunities – and hang gliding and paragliding (off the Long Mynd) if you are an adrenaline junkie!
The site itself is on a bit of a slope (chocks are definitely required) and the five pitches are on hardstanding with electric hook-up. Water and

waste disposal is alongside a farm building, which also houses other facilities. These include a washing-up area, coin-operated laundry and fridge/freezer.
Gents and ladies toilets and showers (one of each) are accessed directly from separate exterior doors.
Everything is kept clean and tidy and the (electric) showers are hot and plentifully powerful. Well-behaved dogs are welcome.
The market town of Church Stretton, under three miles away, has a variety of shops and pubs. Takeaways can also be delivered to Botvyle Farm.
Be warned, though; when you re-enter the ‘real’ world after a few days here, you will find everything just so noisy. We could happily hunker down at Botvyle Farm for weeks on end!
It is worth noting that this is a

CS for members only, but you may join on site.
