Manor Farm Caravan Park, North Yorkshire

-

Manor Farm Caravan Park is an adults-only site located a mile-and-ahalf from York city centre. The site is small, but spacious, with 20 amplesized, hardstanding pitches all with electric hook-up.

Facilities are basic, but sufficient, and are perfectly clean and tidy. Using one of the four showers available in the heated toilet block will cost you an additional 50p.

The site is located just off Bishopthorpe Road, a main route direct into the centre of the city. Road noise, however, isn’t an issue and the site feels quite secluded.

Just across the road from the site is York Racecourse. York is one of the premier tracks in Europe, having recently won the Flat Racecourse of the Year Award and also coming out top in The Times newspaper survey of all Britain’s racecourses.

The city centre is within walking distance along the main road or you can choose to catch one of the many buses at a stop along the way.

You can also head into the city centre by walking along the riverbank, weather permitting. Unfortunately, due to flooding within the York area, we were not able to access the riverbank during our stay.

York city centre is a vibrant and bustling tourist hotspot, steeped in history and jam-packed with shops, restaurants and visitor attractions. York Minster towers above the higgledy-piggledy shops that line the Shambles and Clifford’s Tower is especially beautiful in springtime when the hilltop is covered by a blanket of bright yellow daffodils.

Both within and beyond the city walls there are a great number of visitor attractions packed into this compact place. Don’t miss the National Railway Museum, which is free of charge. York Castle Museum and Jorvic Viking Centre are also very popular places to visit.

Manor Farm Caravan Park is small, but perfectly formed. It may be missing some of the extras that many of the bigger sites offer. However, it is reasonably priced and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The location of the site, with its easy access into the wonderful city of

York, is ideal.
