Lucksall Caravan and Camping Park, Herefordshire
Lucksall Caravan and Camping Park is tucked away down a quiet road near Hereford. It’s on the banks of the Wye and quickly I realised what an attractive setting it has.
An easy approach leads to a friendly and efficient reception experience, reflecting the phone calls I’d had to make over the previous days, amending my bookings when the staff proved very obliging.
I was allocated a good-sized, flat, sheltered pitch near the river. All pitches appear generously sized and spaced. There are also riverside pitches available at a small additional cost. All pitches are kept in excellent condition, as is the whole of this large, well-managed site. Facilities are clean and very well maintained, though at a distance from some of the fields – which are separated by high, treelined hedges. Grey water emptying is at a drive-over grid.
There is a shop selling a wide range of foods and camping necessities; alongside is a well-appointed restaurant and bar area overlooking the river. This seems to be well managed, too.
The river is a very pleasant feature of the site’s west side and fishing permits are available from reception.
There is also a canoe hire establishment on site. There are what appear to be good dog-walking areas and paths. The site’s eastern backdrop is of an attractive wooded hill with well-marked footpaths to Mordiford and Fownhope.
It’s only some four miles into the city of Hereford with its historic buildings and cathedral, as well as its attractive individual shops, cafés and restaurants. Equally, only a few miles in the opposite direction brings you to the striking Malvern Hills on which to walk or to sit and simply admire the views. Another option for a day out is to follow the river down to Ross-onWye and Symonds Yat.
Lucksall Caravan and Camping Park is conveniently situated, being within easy reach of numerous places. This site has many advantages, its beautiful location being just one.
