WildAx autumn bash

-

After having postponed it three times since spring 2020, because of Covid, 35 members of the WildAx Owners’ Group finally got to enjoy their twentieth group meet-up at Overbrook Caravan Park in charming Thornton-le-Dale, North Yorkshire. Eighteen campervans attended, two having had to cancel at the last moment due to medical reasons.

The meet organisers went beyond the call of duty in having to rearrange it with both the campsite and the nearby New Inn, where attendees dined on very good food together.

Sadly, due to the inn’s Covid restrictions, we were split into two groups for dinner, one on Friday, one on Saturday.

The organisers, whose dinner was bought by the group to thank them for their hard work, also arranged an enjoyable walk locally on Saturday, while non-walkers visited Pickering and the North York Moors Railway and witnessed steam trains setting off for Whitby. Members brought unwanted books for sale over the weekend, and the money raised was donated to the National Trust’s tree-planting project.

The campsite was excellent, the pub meal very enjoyable and everyone had a good time as usual.

Much to our surprise the weather, forecast as rain every day, was good. We discussed our next meet, which will be at Chichester in March 2022.

The WildAx Owners’ Group was started in 2011 and numbers around 350 members and welcomes, free of charge, all who own or who have ordered a

WildAx ’van.

Meets are usually held in spring and autumn and those interested and eligible should apply at groups.io/g/ Wildax-Owners-Group
