Adding figures and small scenes to a layout creates points of interest for the viewer. If your layout is small, cameo scenes can sometimes compensate for its diminutive size. Figures are available in all of the common scales from numerous manufacturers, and in every imaginable pose. Some come ready painted and just need to be attached to the layout. Look through adverts in Model Rail magazine to see what is available for your layout. The more you become aware of what is available for your chosen era and railway, the more you can fine-tune your layout to meet your preferences.
