‘VICTORY’ FOR MINERVA

Minerva Model Railways has been quick to announce a second ready-torun locomotive as its debut, the Peckett ‘ E’ 0‑4‑0ST, arrives with stockists. This time, Minerva has gone for the Kerr Stuart ‘ Victory’ 0‑6‑0T, which were built in 1917 (see panel). The ‘ Victory’ will be built to the same specificat­ion as the Peckett (MR219) and will include an accessory set with optional moulded toolboxes, sandboxes, and tank vents. All ten etched brass works’ plates and lamp irons will be included, as well as optional components specific to Alexandra Docks & Railway and GWR locomotive­s. Price? £270.00 (Sound-fitted £390.00). Web: www.minervamod­el railways.co.uk L I A R RR UU OO LL OO C Kerr Stuart built ten of these big 0‑6‑0Ts for the Inland Waterways & Docks Department in 1917. They were sold at the end of the First World War - the majority went to collieries, but the Alexandra Docks & Railway bought two and the East Kent Light Railway bought another one. These became BR property, via the GWR and the Southern Railway. Nos. 666 and 667 were withdrawn in 1954/1955, while No. 30948 was scrapped in 1949 without carrying its new BR number. ROD Nos. 609 and 601 were the last to survive, being scrapped at NCB Powell Duffryn around 1969.
