Be selective with sound
This is my first DCC layout and I found it much easier to wire than the old-fashioned analogue system. It also seems to be much more reliable, as the track and wheels seems to stay much cleaner with DCC (at least they do with my Gaugemaster Prodigy system). It’s sound that adds a lot of the realism to models, but you need to choose carefully. For example, I much prefer Howes Model’s sound files than those fitted by the main manufacturers. Yes, I have to send models to have them installed, but I find the result is worth it. Listen to samples from the different sound specialists and choose the ones you think sound best.
