LIGHT FANTASTIC

-

Have you ever wanted colour light signals that worked like the real thing, but have been put off by complex wiring or programming? Electronics innovator Train-tech has devised a cunning solution. It has unveiled a new range of signals that, like its existing products, simply plug into the track and take power from the two prongs, like Hornby’s erstwhile connector clips. However, these signals have a small motion sensor at the base that detects a passing train and switches the signal from green to red. After time, it will return to green via single and double yellows. However, signals can be connected by a single, press-fit wire to create a block signalling system. As each signal is passed, previous signals return to green. The length of each block is simply determined by the gap - and thus the length of the wire between each signal. By using track power, each signal is compatible with either analogue or digital control systems. A complete array of signals have been developed, from two-aspect to four-aspect, and with right or left-hand ‘feathers’ as well as ‘Theatre Indicators’. These signals form part of Traintech’s Layout Link system. This also includes new Mimic Switches for illuminated control panels and for controlling ‘feathers’ and ‘Theatre Indicators’. Layout Link also includes miniature level crossing warning lights that are controlled by track sensors and are supplied with Peco’s plastic level crossing kits in both ‘N’ and ‘OO’. Price: Sensor Signals from £40; Mimic Switches £14; Track Sensor £20; Level Crossing lights from £25. Availability: Train-tech. Tel: 01953 457800. Web: www.train-tech.com
