DIY layout SOS: Can you help build Jordan’s layout?
Sheffield granddad Kevan Adams is seeking help to build a 16ft by 8ft ‘Thomas the Tank Engine’ layout for his terminally ill grandson Jordan Reid. Jordan suffers from a rare form of cancer, and Kevan wants to build the little boy his dream layout. The layout, based on Brendam Docks and Knapford station from the ‘Thomas’ books will be used as a fundraiser for Sheffield Children’s Hospital, and Kevan wants to have it ready for next year’s Model Rail Scotland in February 2018. He doesn’t want cash donations, but is looking for donations from companies and individuals of materials and suitable ‘OO’ equipment for the docks and freight yard, and offers of help with the construction of the layout. He also needs to hear from anyone in the Sheffield area who has some workshop space to spare in which the layout can be built. If you can help in any way, please contact Kevan direct on 07586 483218. Kevan has also asked Model Rail readers to come up with a name for the layout. We’re delighted to offer a £250 worth of goodies from the Model Rail cupboard as a prize for the winner, who will be chosen by Kevan and Jordan.
