Clinging on to the end
Got an old Lima Class 47 that you don’t know what to do with? Why not recreate the mortal remains of 47738? This ‘Duff’ was scrapped in 2003 but its No. 2 end was retained, restored (including being given a coat of EWS maroon) and mounted on a bogie for use in the Rail Incident Support Centre, Plymouth. With the RISC due to be demolished, 47738’s cab is to move to the South Wales Loco Cab Preservation Group’s headquarters at Bridgend, albeit minus its bogie.
